“Visited earlier to get a spare set of keys cut. They charge less than half what Timpson charge in Gallions Reach. Definitely recommend.”
— Ben Copeland, Google review
“Great to see these independent hardware stores still going. Went in for some nails and found some brackets for a fence panel that helped me out greatly.”
— Paul Whelan, Google review
“Great service all round, delivered within minutes. All tools and DIY equipment certified. Key cutting to top it off.”

About the shop

A Green Street fixture

Upton Park Builders Merchants is an independent shop at 434-436 Green Street, in the heart of Upton Park. Trade or DIY, big job or a single fixing, it's the local counter people reach for first, with staff who know their stock and prices that keep the neighbourhood coming back.

The faded lettering on the wall above, “Cut Price Tools, Paint, Ironmongery”, tells you this corner has supplied Green Street's builders for a long time. Today the shelves run from cement and copper pipe to seeds, bulbs and a key-cutting counter, and there are builders, decorators, plumbers and electricians available if you need the work done too.

Good to know

Before you pop in

Do you cut keys while I wait?
Yes. Key cutting is one of the things we're best known for, cut in minutes at the counter while you wait. Bring the key you want copied and, where reviewers have compared prices, we come in well under the high-street chains.
What time do you open?
We open at 7am Monday to Saturday and close at 6pm, so the trade can stock up before the day starts. On Sundays we're open 9am to 4pm for the weekend DIY jobs.
Is there parking?
There's free parking directly outside on Green Street, so it's easy to load up heavier materials. We're also a short walk from Upton Park station on the District and Hammersmith & City lines.
Can you get in something you don't stock?
Often, yes. If it's a building, plumbing, electrical or household line we don't have on the shelf, give us a call on 020 8552 1060 and we'll tell you what we can order in.
Do you have tradespeople available?
Alongside the shop, there are builders, decorators, plumbers and electricians available for quotations, as well as a locksmith. Ask at the counter or call and we'll point you in the right direction.

For the owner — to confirm before launch

  • Year established / how long on Green Street (used lightly as “a long time”; add the real year if you'd like it shown).
  • Whether “family-run” is accurate for the trust strip.
  • Exact departments and lines you want listed (the department lists are typical builders'-merchant stock — tell us anything to add or remove).
  • Key-cutting price / “half the chains” framing is quoted from a real customer review, not a stated price — confirm you're happy to keep it.
  • Tradespeople available (builders, decorators, plumbers, electricians, locksmith) — from your own signage; confirm how you'd like this described.
  • Opening hours shown are from your Google listing (Mon–Sat 7–6, Sun 9–4) — confirm they're current.
  • Any business email you'd like added (none was on file, so the site routes contact to phone, Instagram and in-store).
  • Company registration details for the footer if you'd like them shown (signage reads “Ltd”).
